Description
This project is about creating an animation movie made of single picture or photos. The human eye sees 24 pictures as an animated/living scene, so 24 pictures are worth one second of the movie.
Ingredients
- A trickbox
- A camera
- Computer with speakers and different software: Stop-Motion-software, Video editing and audio editing
- A microhpone
- Sound recorder with headphones
- Pen and paper
- Scissors and Glue
- Cellotape (to prevent slippage of the elements)
- Small items, which should not be drwan(optional)
- USB-Sticks or CDs/DVDs (to take away for the children)
Costs
Depends on the complexity of the project. With the hardware about 5 EUR per person.
Duration
Depends on the complexity of the project and the experience/age of the participants. But about 10 to 13 sessions of 90 minutes duration.
Support
The tutors and teachers should get to know the hardware before using it in the project. The support of the project is during the whole duration very high.
Special Characteristics
It is useful (absolutely necessary) to have an introductory explanatory session, in which the basics of the camera are explained. Where do you turn it on and off, which button is the trigger, where is it forbidden to touch the camera in any case, what is the Auto Focus – all these questions should be answered.
Also you should explain, how the single pictures create the animation movie and the reason why the items/elements of the movie can only moved a little bit with every camera shot.
Division of labor and teamwork: In the pre-production should be decided together what the movie is about. The different single items/elements can be drawn afterwards by the participants – some can draw the background, while others draw the moving parts of the movie. During the production of the movie every participant should have the opportunity to operate the camera and move the items/elements to fully understand how the animated movie is made.
The post-production will be done by the tutors and parents, since the video editing software is very complex and hard to handle for children. But minor tasks can be done by the younger participants with the help from the tutors (e.g. put the pictures together for the movie, deletes pictures)
